‘The Complete Peerage by GEC’ or more fully The Complete Peerage of England, Scotland, Ireland, Great Britain, and the United Kingdom, Extant, Extinct, Dormant, the 1st edition, was published between 1887 and 1898 by GEC. (G E Cokayne). It was revised and much enlarged with the 2nd edition, being published in 15 volumes between 1910 and 1998 In the second edition different editors were involved in the different volumes. This publication is probably the best researched most reliable of all similar publications and there are significant improvements made in the second edition
